About the player
Ossama Ashley plays as a defensive midfielder. He came through the youth ranks at Fulham before moving on to AFC Wimbledon, where he made his professional debut in the EFL Trophy in 2017.
The breakthrough finally came at Colchester United, where Ashley signed on a free transfer in 2022 and made 28 League Two appearances that season alone. That form was enough to earn him a move to Salford City in July 2023, where he became a regular in the middle of the park, going on to make 66 appearances across all competitions and scoring twice. His performances in the 2024–25 season were rewarded when Salford's supporters voted him their Player of the Year, the standout individual recognition of his career so far.
Ashley has no representative honours at any level for either England or Morocco. With his Salford contract running out, he made the move to Rotherham United on a free transfer in July 2026, reuniting with Alex Bruce, the manager who had overseen his time at Salford, on a deal that ties him to the club for a season.
