Olarenwaju Ayoba Kayode

Kayode's 17 goals in the 2016–17 season made him the Austrian Bundesliga's top scorer. He was the first African player to win that award, and he did it with FK Austria Wien, whom he had joined in 2015.

The route there began at ASEC Mimosas in Ivory Coast, where he won the Ligue 1 title in 2010, the year he started his senior career. Short loans followed at FC Luzern and Heartland FC. He then moved to Israel and Maccabi Netanya, and the club won the Liga Leumit in 2013–14.

The goals in Vienna brought the biggest move of his career. In August 2017 Manchester City signed him for a reported £3.5 million. He did not stay in Manchester: he was loaned at once to Girona FC for the 2017–18 season. He later joined FC Shakhtar Donetsk, where the club's move to make the deal permanent came at an undisclosed fee.

Turkey became the main setting of his later years, through loans at Gaziantep FK, Sivasspor and Ümraniyespor. At Sivasspor he won the Turkish Cup in 2021–22. He came on as a substitute in the final. Gençlerbirliği and Şanlıurfaspor followed, and in January 2025 he joined Esenler Erokspor on a free transfer.

Kayode played for Nigeria at U17, U20 and U23 level. His four senior caps came between 2017 and 2018, and he did not score in them.
