Kouakou Odilon Dorgeless Kossounou

Odilon Kossounou left the ASEC Mimosas academy in Abidjan, first to Hammarby IF in Sweden, where he made his senior debut in 2019. That same year he moved on to Club Brugge for around €4 million: he won two Belgian Pro League titles with the club, in 2019–20 and 2020–21, and added the Belgian Super Cup in 2021.

Bayer Leverkusen paid a reported €23 million for him in July 2021. Four years later, in August 2024, Kossounou moved to Italy on loan with Atalanta for €5 million. The loan turned permanent on 13 June 2025, when Atalanta exercised their purchase option and signed him for €20 million, reduced from an initial €25 million clause, taking the overall cost of the deal to €25 million. He signed a contract running until 30 June 2029.

At international level, Kossounou has become a regular for Ivory Coast, with 40 caps to his name. He was part of the squad that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and he went on to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In 2024 he spoke publicly about wanting to be considered for the African Ballon d'Or.
