Øystein Øvretveit

On 15 December 2021, Øystein Øvretveit saved four penalties in one night against the club that had raised him. In the Eliteserien qualification play-off, the Jerv goalkeeper stopped two spot-kicks in regular time and two more in the shoot-out, the last of them the decisive kick from Robert Taylor. The result gave Jerv their first promotion to the top flight and sent Brann down to the OBOS-ligaen.

Brann was where his career began. He joined the club's academy in 2009, after spells at Telavåg and Skogsvåg/Hald, and won the Norwegian Under-19 Championship with them in 2010. He made his senior debut in the Eliteserien on 25 March 2012, aged 17, and at that point was the youngest goalkeeper in the league's history. The path was not smooth: irregular heartbeats in the winter of 2011–12 kept him out of training for a time.

Regular football came elsewhere. He was loaned to Vard Haugesund in 2013 and to Nest-Sotra in 2015, then moved to Nest-Sotra permanently in 2016. A year at Sandefjord followed in 2017 before he settled at Jerv, where he stayed from 2018 to 2024.

For Norway he played at youth level: seven caps for the under-16s, nine for the under-17s and one for the under-19s. He has not been capped by the senior side.

In March 2025 he joined Fredrikstad when his Jerv contract ran out. So far he has played three Norwegian Cup matches for the club and has yet to start a league game.
