About the player
Philippe Rommens joined the PSV Eindhoven academy in 2006, where he trained alongside Steven Bergwijn and Frenkie de Jong. He worked his way through the club's youth ranks, including the U19 side, and made his senior bow with Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie. A free transfer to TOP Oss in 2018 reunited him with his brother Olivier, and he repaid the move by finishing as the club's top scorer in the 2019–20 season with nine goals.
Go Ahead Eagles signed him on a free transfer in 2021, and it was there that Rommens established himself, making 94 appearances over three seasons with 11 goals and 14 assists. His form was recognised in November 2022 with a place in the Eredivisie Team of the Month. He moved to Ferencvárosi TC in 2024, a transfer reported at €1.5 million.
His first season in Budapest brought a Nemzeti Bajnokság I title, though his goal return was modest, with a single strike in all competitions, the last of them against Diósgyőr in November 2024. Ferencváros also reached the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League the following season before a 4-0 defeat to Braga ended the run.
Rommens represented Belgium at U19 level, winning two caps and scoring once in 2015, and has not featured for the senior national side.
