Ferencvárosi TC

Two fixtures still shape how a Ferencváros season is judged. Against Újpest, the sharper and more modern rivalry across Budapest, supporters call the meeting simply "The Derbi". Against MTK the club contests the Örökrangadó, the oldest derby in Hungary, running back to a time before either side had won a single title.

Ferencváros grew out of Budapest's ninth district, formed on 3 May 1899, and never left the address behind: the crest carries nine stripes, five green and four white, for the district itself. The nickname Fradi stuck early; supporters also call the side Zöldek, the Greens.

No club in Hungary has collected more silverware. Ferencváros has won the NB I championship 36 times, most recently in 2024/25. The Magyar Kupa has come back to the club 25 times, most recently in 2026. Abroad, the run predates most of its rivals' entire histories: the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1965, the Mitropa Cup in 1928 and 1937, the Challenge Cup in 1909.

The ground the club now calls home, the Groupama Aréna, once carried the name of Flórián Albert, the forward who won the Ballon d'Or in 1967. Dezső Deák scored 59 goals in a single season, 1948/49, a mark few strikers have come close to since. In goal now is Dénes Dibusz, who also captains Hungary.

Every season still turns back to Újpest and MTK before any title race is settled.
