José Ramiro Funes Mori

Ramiro Funes Mori came through River Plate's youth ranks and made his professional debut there in 2011, going on to win the Primera B Nacional in 2011–12 and the Primera División title in 2013–14 before that continental triumph, which came alongside the Recopa Sudamericana, the Copa Sudamericana and the Suruga Bank Championship.

That run of success took him to England, where Everton paid around £9.5 million for him in 2015. Three years later he moved to Villarreal in Spain for a fee reported at close to £17 million, and it was there that he added a Europa League winner's medal in the 2020–21 season. He later played for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he won the league title, and for Cruz Azul in Mexico, before a free transfer brought him back to River Plate in 2023.

At international level, Funes Mori made his Argentina debut in March 2015 against El Salvador and went on to earn 26 caps, scoring twice. He was part of the squad that reached the final of the 2016 Copa América and finished third at the 2019 edition, his last appearance for the national team coming in that tournament's third-place match against Chile.

Since 2025 he has continued his career at Estudiantes de La Plata, winning the Primera División Clausura and the Trofeo de Campeones de la Liga Profesional.
