About the player
After coming through the youth ranks at AC Bellinzona and FC Lugano, he signed for AC Taverne as a free agent in July 2023 and spent two seasons in the 1. Liga Classic. It was there, in the 2024/25 campaign, that he made his name: 16 goals in 24 matches, enough to establish himself as a leading scorer in his group and to catch the eye of Grasshopper Club Zürich.
His move to Zürich in July 2025 did not come with an immediate first-team place. Bengondo started out with the reserves, GC II, in the same 1. Liga Classic tier he had just left, before being promoted to the senior squad. The step up followed in October 2025, when he made his Swiss Super League debut off the bench against FC Zürich.
The following months brought a setback: a quadriceps rupture that required surgery and kept him out for a significant stretch. He returned to scoring form in the 2026/27 season.
Bengondo is the son of former professional footballer Patrick Bengondo. He has not yet been capped by a Swiss national team.
