About the player
Sam Inwood is a left-footed centre-back who can also cover at left-back, and he came through the academy at Bolton Wanderers. That route led to a first professional contract in April 2023, later extended until June 2028 with a club option for a further 12 months.
His senior debut came in the EFL Trophy in September 2023. League football followed in the 2024–25 season, when he made two League One appearances for Bolton.
That step came in 2025–26 at Aldershot Town in the National League. Inwood made 21 to 23 league appearances there.
For 2026–27 Bolton loaned him again, this time to Swindon Town for the full season. He has so far made two appearances there, in the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy.
Born in Manchester, Inwood plays internationally for Northern Ireland. He has won four caps at Under-21 level.
