Shawn Adewoye

Shawn Adewoye came through the youth ranks at KRC Genk but never made a senior appearance for the club, leaving on a free transfer to RKC Waalwijk in January 2021. He made his professional debut for RKC on 13 March 2021, in a 2-0 Eredivisie defeat to Sparta Rotterdam, and went on to spend three seasons there. Over that spell he made 87 league appearances and scored twice, including a header in a 5-0 away win over Heracles Almelo in May 2024. He was named Man of the Match twice at RKC and included in the Team of the Week on two occasions.

In July 2024, with his contract at RKC expired, Adewoye joined Fortuna Sittard on a free transfer. He quickly became a fixture in the side, starting 13 of the club's first 14 Eredivisie fixtures that season. His standout moment at Fortuna came on 30 November 2024, when he scored a close-range goal in the 33rd minute away at Feyenoord, helping his side to a 1-1 draw at De Kuip and ending the league leaders' ten-game unbeaten run. In total, he made 52 league appearances for Fortuna, scoring once.

Adewoye has represented Belgium at every youth level from the U15s to the U19s. He is of Nigerian descent through his father and said in 2023 that he was open to representing Nigeria, though he has not received a senior call-up from either country.
