About the player
Stefan Gavrilov's route to Bulgarian football went through Sheffield Wednesday's academy, where he spent two years in the U18 side and featured in the FA Youth Cup before returning home to join Septemvri Sofia's youth system in 2019. He made his professional debut for the Sofia club that July, working through the Vtora Liga before getting minutes in the Parva Liga during the 2020/21 season.
A move to Botev Vratsa followed in August 2021, and Gavrilov stayed there for two seasons before a free transfer to Beroe Stara Zagora in the summer of 2023. His time in Stara Zagora ran until the end of June 2026, after which he joined Dunav Ruse on a free transfer for the new season.
Gavrilov has come up through Bulgaria's youth ranks, picking up caps at U17, U19 and U21 level, though a call-up to the senior national side has so far eluded him.
