Stuart Armstrong

Stuart Armstrong is a midfielder who returned to Scotland to join Aberdeen after a decade of experience across Europe. The transfer fee was reported as seven million pounds.

At Celtic, Armstrong became a key figure in the midfield. He helped the team secure four domestic league titles, along with two Scottish Cup victories and two League Cup triumphs. He scored 28 goals in 144 matches, demonstrating his ability to contribute in attack while maintaining defensive discipline. His consistency earned him recognition as the SFWA Scottish Young Player of the Year in 2013. He was also selected for the PFA Scotland Team of the Year on three separate occasions.

In June 2018, Armstrong moved to the Premier League, signing for Southampton for another seven million pounds. He spent six years at St Mary's Stadium, playing 191 games and adding 21 goals to his tally. In September 2024, he joined Vancouver Whitecaps as a free agent, scoring once in six appearances. A short stint followed in January 2025 with Sheffield Wednesday, where he played 11 matches before returning home to Aberdeen.

Internationally, Armstrong made his debut for Scotland in March 2017 against Slovenia. He has since earned 53 caps, scoring five goals. He was part of the national squad for the European Championships in 2020 and 2024. His return to Aberdeen represents a homecoming after his extensive time abroad.
