Tomás Franco Tavares

Tomás Tavares came through Benfica's academy, joining in 2010 and signing his first professional contract with the Lisbon club in July 2018. He made his senior debut for Benfica B in the Segunda Liga in August 2019. He won the Portuguese Super Cup and the International Champions Cup with Benfica, and represented Portugal at under-19 and under-21 level, finishing runner-up at the 2019 European Under-19 Championship and again with the under-21s in 2021.

His path since leaving Lisbon has been shaped by loans. Before a loan to FC Basel produced 18 Swiss Super League appearances and a goal, Benfica sold him permanently to Spartak Moscow in January 2023 for a fee of around €2 million, and he went on to make 22 appearances in the Russian Cup, scoring once, interrupted by a further loan to LASK.

His contract with Spartak was terminated by mutual consent in January 2025, and he moved on a free transfer to AVS, where he scored twice in 12 Liga Portugal appearances. In August 2025 he signed for Wisła Płock on a one-year deal with options to extend by two further years. He has settled quickly into the Ekstraklasa, appearing in 13 league matches and once in the Polish Cup so far this season.
