About the player
Valentin Țicu spent the first eight years of his senior career at one club, Petrolul Ploiești. He came through its youth system and made his first-team debut in 2018. He stayed until January 2026 and became captain along the way.
The high point of that period came in the 2021–22 season, when Petrolul won the Liga II title with him leading the team.
He was also part of the national youth set-up. He won two caps for Romania at under-19 level in 2018 and 11 for the under-21s between 2021 and 2023. In June 2023 he was called up to the senior squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier against Switzerland. He did not make his debut in that match and has no senior caps.
In January 2026 he left Petrolul as a free agent and joined Dinamo București, again on a free transfer. He made nine appearances there, six of them in the league and two in the Cup. When the season ended, Dinamo decided not to activate the option to extend his contract, and he left.
In July 2026 he signed for Farul Constanța, once more on a free transfer.
