Locals still call APEA "The Flamingos."

That changed in the 2021–22 season, when APEA won Group B of the fourth-tier STOK Elite Division, beating AEP Polimedion in the final to go up. Two seasons later they finished second in the Third Division, enough for automatic promotion to the Second Division for 2024–25. In between, a piece of transfer history: in January 2022, midfielder Nick Kaaijmolen left APEA, then still a lower-division club, straight for PAEEK FC in the Cypriot First Division, the first time a player had jumped directly from that level of the pyramid to the top flight.

The 2024–25 season brought the club's first real trophy. APEA won the Cypriot Cup for Lower Divisions, beating Doxa Paliometochou 3–2 in the final. They have never featured in the main Cypriot Cup or in European competition, and matches against neighbours such as Ethnikos Latsion and MEAP Nisou remain regional fixtures rather than named rivalries.
