Doxa

Doxa Katokopias have reached the Cypriot Cup semi-final twice, in 2013–14 and 2016–17, and lost both times to APOEL. The eagle on the crest has never presided over a First Division title or a cup win. The name comes from Katokopia, the Nicosia suburb the club represented from its founding on 1 January 1954, under the full title Doxa THOI Katokopias — the initials marking its origin as a Religious Orthodox Foundation side. After 1974 the club could no longer call Katokopia home and settled in Peristerona instead, where it has stayed since. The ground there, Katokopia Stadium, holds 3,500. Doxa's record is a record of the Second Division rather than the First: runners-up there in 1997–98, 2002–03 and 2011–12, each finish good enough for promotion, with an earlier second place in the Third Division in 1982–83. None of those promotions have held for long — the club has moved between divisions repeatedly since first reaching the top flight in 1998. That instability has kept Doxa's rivalries tied less to a single fixed derby than to whoever shares its level at a given time. Olympiakos Nicosia, close by and frequently in the same division, is the name that comes up most often; Aris and AEK, both also of Nicosia, have supplied the rest of the meetings, without either side attaching a name to them.
