Dinamo Brest

The men who took the field for the club in Bendery in 1960 played under a name nobody in Brest uses now. They were Spartak then, and they beat Nistru in that first fixture. The name lasted twelve years before the club took the river as its own — Bug — and dropped it again after three seasons for Dinamo.

That was not the last of it. In 2012 the club shortened itself to plain Brest, then reversed course before the year was out: on 26 November the historic name came back, and Dinamo Brest is what has been printed on the team sheet since.

For most of the Soviet decades the ceiling was the second tier. Third place in the first zone of the 2nd League in 1968 was enough to go up; the deepest cup run came the following year, when the side reached the last 32 of the Soviet Cup. Independence brought a bronze medal in 1992 and then a long wait — the first Belarusian Cup did not arrive until 2007, and with it the club's first European tie, in the UEFA Cup.

The decade that followed was the one that changed the club's standing. Cups in 2017 and 2018, back to back, then the league title in 2019 — and Super Cups in three consecutive years, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The 2019/20 cup final ended in defeat, closing that run.

Home is the Brestsky Sports Complex, rebuilt in 2005, with 10,169 seats. The supporters go by Yuzhane, the southerners, or simply the white-and-blues, after the kit.

Europe has stayed within reach without going far: a Champions League qualifier in 2020/21, then the Conference League in 2021/22 and again in 2025/26.
