Abomey's football scene has long belonged to more than one club, and Dynamo carries its own corner of it. The club, known locally as Les Princes, traces back to 1962.
The closest it came to breaking that pattern was in 2008, when Les Princes reached the final of the Coupe de l'Indépendance and lost 1–2 to Energie FC.
Josias Sessou kept goal for Dynamo and won 124 caps for Benin's national team, featuring in the 2010 squad.
Neither the Benin Premier League nor the Coupe du Bénin has ever gone to Dynamo, and recent seasons have not moved the club closer — sixth place in 2023/24, repeated again in 2025/26, with the gap to the top of the table still unclosed.
