Promotion in 2025 came at the level Ksour Essef knows best: finishing top of Group C in the Tunisian Ligue 3 with 54 points, well clear of Stade Soussien in second on 39, sent the club back into Ligue 2 for 2025-2026. It was not the first such climb.
The town of Ksour Essef sits on the Sahel coast in the Mahdia governorate, some 200 km south of Tunis, and the club founded there on 3 November 1957 has spent most of its history shuttling between the second and third divisions rather than settling in either. In the season just gone, back in Ligue 2, that pattern held: ninth in Group B, 32 points from 26 matches, 40 goals scored and 34 conceded. A run to the last 16 in 2015-2016 ended there with a 4-0 defeat to Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and this season's cup campaign lasted one round, a 2-1 extra-time loss to Baâth Sportif de Bou Hajla.
