Lehigh Valley United

In 2012 a team won a national title on a 1-0 scoreline against Chattanooga FC. That was the year FC Lehigh Valley United Sonic, as the club was then billed, took the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) national championship. The sponsorship ended and the nickname stayed. "Sonic" is still what people in Bethlehem call the team.

The club began as the senior arm of a youth organisation incorporated in 2007. The Soccer Association of the Lehigh Valley set up the adult side in 2009 after the Pennsylvania Stoners disbanded, leaving the region without a team in the NPSL. It won the Keystone Division in 2010, and again in 2012.

In 2015 the club moved up to the USL Premier Development League, renamed USL League Two in 2019. The step brought no repeat of 2012. LVU have not won that league or reached its playoffs, though they finished second in the Mid Atlantic Division in 2026, the closest they have come.

Home games are played at the Cedar Crest College Falconplex in Allentown. The administrative offices are in Allentown too, while the club carries the name of Bethlehem.

The fixture that draws the most feeling is against Reading United AC, a regional rivalry with no name of its own. Chris Lema played for LVU while at Georgetown University, then signed with the New York Red Bulls and later San Antonio FC.
