Lillestrøm

Two neighbourhood sides in Lillestrøm, Idrætsforening and Sportsklubben Rask, joined forces in 1917 rather than keep competing against each other, and the merged club kept growing on that same ground ever since.

The wait for a first Eliteserien title ran until 1958–59, and once Lillestrøm broke through, the club turned into one of the division's fixtures rather than a passing name — five championships followed, the last in 1989, alongside seven Norwegian Cups stretching from 1977 to 2025. Between 1975 and 2019 the club never once dropped out of the top flight, 45 straight seasons that stand as a national record.

Tom Lund carried much of that era. He played for the club from 1967 to 1982, turned down offers from bigger clubs abroad to stay, won the league twice and the cup three times as a player, then came back to coach the side to the 1986 title. Others left rather than stayed — Henning Berg and Ronny Johnsen both moved on from Lillestrøm to win the league and the European Cup with Manchester United, and Berg later returned as head coach.

The recent record has been less settled: relegation in 2019, an immediate return in 2020, another drop in 2024, and in 2025 the club won the second tier without losing a match and came straight back up, adding a seventh cup along the way. Home matches are still played at Åråsen, opened in 1951 and holding 10,540 across seated, standing and VIP areas, where the crowd in yellow and black has watched most of that history unfold.
