The 2016–17 Burundian Cup final went to extra time, and it was Slim Saidi who settled it in the 98th minute — 2–1 against Le Messager Ngozi. A few months later the club added the Burundian Super Cup on the back of it.
The league has been a different matter. Olympic Star have never won it, and the closest they have come is sixth place in 2019/20. The cup run, then, is not part of a pattern.
