Plauen

Vogtländischer Fußballclub Plauen, in blue and yellow. The club was dissolved in 1945 and came back as SG Plauen-Süd. In the East German years it was renamed again and again, becoming ZSG Zellwolle Plauen in 1949 and BSG Rotation Plauen in 1950. Later it was BSG Wismut Plauen and then BSG Motor WEMA Plauen. It was as Rotation that the side won the Landesklasse Sachsen in 1951.

The years after reunification were the busiest. Frank Papritz was the coach who led the club's rise in the early 1990s. The Landesliga Sachsen titles of 1991 and 1994 came in that stretch. The NOFV-Oberliga Süd followed in 1996 and again in 2004, and the Saxony Cup came in 1999 and 2004.

The Bulgarian international Krassimir Balakov played here in 2005–06 and later came back as sporting director.

The ground is the Vogtlandstadion. Since March 2011 it has carried the name of the local brewery, Sternquell, which bought the naming rights. It holds about 10,500, though only around 1,400 of those places are seats. Auerbach are the rivals, and the fixture is the Vogtland derby.

On 1 December 2014 the club declared insolvency. Relegation from the Regionalliga Nordost followed automatically. VFC Plauen.
