The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), formed in 1975, joined the Confederation of African Football a year later and FIFA in 1978.
Stade Amahoro in Kigali holds the team's home matches, built to take around 75,000 people. The shirt has stayed yellow with blue shorts and green socks, the away kit switching between white and blue, colours that trace back to the federation's own founding years rather than any later rebrand.
Haruna Niyonzima holds the most caps in the side's history, the kind of durability that comes from being picked before a settled generation of teammates existed around him. Olivier Karekezi remains the leading scorer, his goals carrying a squad that has rarely had the depth to share the load evenly up front.
