The Brussels derby against RSC Anderlecht is the fixture RWDM Brussels is measured by. Both clubs sit in the same city, and RWDM's home is Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, a municipality of the Brussels-Capital Region.

The present legal entity dates from 10 May 2015, when it started as FC Molenbeek on matricule 5479, bought from the dissolved Standard Wetteren. Daring Club de Bruxelles, founded in 1895, won five league titles and the 1935 Belgian Cup. RWD Molenbeek, formed in 1973 by the merger of Racing White and Daring Club Molenbeek, won the league in 1975 and reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 1976–77. Erwin Vandenbergh scored 147 goals for that RWDM and remains its all-time top scorer. Adnan Januzaj and Michy Batshuayi came through the academy.

The club won the second division in 2022–23. In June 2025 it renamed itself Daring Brussels to claim the older heritage outright. Fans and the municipality objected, and by July it was RWDM Brussels again.

The 2025–26 season ended with RWDM safe on the pitch. In May 2026, however, it was administratively relegated to the amateur third tier because of financial and administrative shortcomings.

Home is the Edmond Machtens Stadium, built in 1920 and holding 12,266.
