Trollhättan

Division 1 Södra fell to FC Trollhättan in 2008, and the black shirts went up to Superettan, the second tier. It lasted two seasons, 2009 and 2010, before the drop back down; the club has since settled into Ettan Södra, the third tier, with a Division 2 Norra Götaland title in 2015 for company.

Black is the colour that sets them apart in Trollhättan: shirt, shorts and socks, worn to keep FC Trollhättan distinct from the city's other club, IFK Trollhättan, which plays in blue and white. Edsborgs IP, where they play, holds 5,100.

The women's side carries an older line. Under the Trollhättans IF name it spent 1981 to 1989 in Damallsvenskan, the top flight, and reached the SM final in 1984 — years before FC Trollhättan existed as a club at all.

That is because FC Trollhättan is not where the city's football began but where two of its clubs ended: Trollhättans IF, founded in 1906, and Trollhättans FK, itself the product of a 1958 merger between Trollhättans AIK and Fallens IK. Their senior teams were folded into one on 16 October 2001.
