Javier Aguirre named new Valencia head coach
Valencia appointed Javier Aguirre after a week of talks, fresh off leading Mexico to the last 16 at the 2026 World Cup; he'll be presented on 28 September.

Mestalla holds 49,430 and has done the job for a long time. A replacement, Nou Mestalla, was begun in 2005 and abandoned in 2009 when the money ran out; it stands unfinished still. In 2014 the Singaporean businessman Peter Lim bought 70.4% of the shares through Meriton Holdings, and the president Amadeo Salvo resigned the following year after falling out with the new owners.
