Vizela

In 1966 Vizela beat Tramagal Sport União 5–3 to take the Taça de Campeão Nacional. The club's own history page does not always list it among the honours, but the score and the opponent are on record.

That is the pattern the club has kept to since it was formed on 1 January 1939 in the Braga district: long spells in the lower divisions, broken by climbs that rarely last. Promotion to the Primeira Liga has come three times — 1984–85, 2015–16 and 2019–20 — and the most recent stay was the longest. Eleventh place in 2022–23 remains the best finish the club has managed in the top flight.

The ground holds 6 000, which puts a firm ceiling on what a season in the Primeira Liga can pay for. Vizela play in light blue shirts with vertical white stripes, dark blue shorts, and change to all white.

The derby that matters most is with Moreirense, ten kilometres away; meetings with AD Fafe carry the Derby Vizelense name locally, though nothing official settles it. Penafiel and Académico de Viseu fill out the fixtures the town circles.

The academy's clearest return is Zé Pedro, who joined it in 2013 as a boy and now plays at centre-back for Porto. Nelsinho and Miguel Silva also came through and went on elsewhere.

In 2019, marking 80 years, the club unveiled a memorial to Fernando da Costa Vieira, a former president.

Relegation returned Vizela to Liga Portugal 2, where they start the 2025–26 season. Second place in that division in 2020–21 is the marker they are working back towards.
