The ICC Africa Continental Cup, formerly the ACA Africa T20 Cup, operates as the premier regional championship for African associate member nations. Organized by the International Cricket Council under its Africa Region structure, the tournament provides high-level competitive exposure and T20I status to participants. It runs a format involving a group stage round-robin followed by knockout semi-finals and a final.
The competition is distinct from the Kwibuka T20 Tournament, an annual invitational event hosted by Rwanda to commemorate the 1994 genocide, and from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, which serves as the official multi-stage pathway for securing spots in the global World Cup. The Africa Continental Cup does not directly award World Cup qualification spots but serves as a crucial preparatory competition for the top associate teams in the region.
Uganda won the 2023 edition and remains the current champion, having defeated Nigeria in the final of the 2024/25 season. Kenya won the inaugural edition in 2022. The number of participating teams has varied, with 8 teams in 2023 and 10 teams in the 2024/25 edition. Key participating nations include Uganda, Nigeria, Rwanda, Botswana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, Malawi, and Sierra Leone.
The tournament is often sponsored, recently branded as the ILT20 Africa Continental Cup.
