The Asian Games Women's Cricket Competition is a quadrennial tournament established by the Olympic Council of Asia with technical support from the Asian Cricket Council. It made its debut at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, marking the first inclusion of women's cricket in the program. The event is distinct from the annual Asian Cricket Council Women's T20 Asian Cup, serving as a multi-sport medal contest rather than a continental league. The format is exclusively Twenty20, with all matches granted T20 International status. Unlike a league system, the competition features no promotion or relegation. Qualification typically secures automatic spots for the top Asian cricket nations and the host nation, while remaining places are filled through ACC-organized qualifiers. For the 2023 edition in Hangzhou, eight teams participated, with the top four seeded directly into the quarter-finals. The current champion is India, who won the gold medal by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Pakistan holds the record for most titles, having won gold in both 2010 and 2014. In the inaugural 2010 final, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh with a 10-wicket victory, the largest margin in a final. The 2018 edition in Jakarta-Palembang did not feature the women's tournament, with only the men's game held. The 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya will see eight teams enter directly into a knockout quarter-final stage. Thailand Women, Sri Lanka Women, Indonesia Women, Malaysia Women, India Women, and Pakistan Women are among the participating sides. The tournament stands as a standalone event, separate from regional cup competitions. It provides a platform for nations to compete for continental supremacy on the Asian Games stage. The structure ensures a concentrated knockout phase for the latter stages of the competition.
