About

The BCB President's Cup stands as a unique one-off domestic cricket tournament held in Bangladesh in October 2020. Organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the event served to resume cricket activities following a hiatus caused by the global pandemic. Unlike traditional structures that rely on geographical regions or permanent clubs, this competition featured three squads named after their captains: Najmul XI, Tamim XI, and Mahmudullah XI. These teams comprised a mix of senior national team players and emerging domestic talents, led by captains Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tamim Iqbal, and Mahmudullah Riyad respectively.

The competition operated as a 50-over round-robin league which culminated in a single final match. Mahmudullah XI secured victory in the inaugural and only edition, defeating Najmul XI by seven wickets in the final played on October 25, 2020. The tournament was inaugurated by BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon. While primary domestic competitions such as the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League qualify as List A or First-Class, matches from this specific cup are generally not recognized as official List A matches by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Consequently, the BCB classifies it as an occasional competition rather than a recurring annual fixture. No subsequent editions were held under this name in the years following 2020, marking it as a distinct experiment in player selection and team formation within Bangladeshi cricket.
