The England Under-19 side, administered by the England and Wales Cricket Board, was established in 1974, originally operating under the name England Young Cricketers. The Sri Lanka Under-19 team, managed by Sri Lanka Cricket, has participated in ICC Under-19 World Cups since the global tournament began in 1988. The contest typically comprises two Youth Tests and three Youth One Day Internationals. Historically, England holds an advantage in the Test format, leading the head-to-head record with five wins against Sri Lanka’s one, alongside four draws. The One Day International record is more closely balanced, with England holding a minor edge of eleven wins to Sri Lanka’s ten. The most recent encounter in 2024 saw Sri Lanka secure the ODI series 2-1, while England claimed the Test series 1-0. In terms of global achievement, the England Under-19 team is the only side among the two to have won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, claiming the title in 1998.
