Hong Kong Under-19s in Nepal 2024/25

The interaction between Hong Kong and Nepal at youth level centres on international fixtures rather than a shared domestic league. The two sides meet primarily through bilateral tours and regional tournaments organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

The most recent direct contest took place during a Hong Kong Under-19s tour of Nepal in December 2024. This series featured One Day Internationals (ODIs) held at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu. Nepal Under-19s secured victory with commanding margins, winning the final two matches by 226 runs and 130 runs respectively.

Both nations are regular competitors in the ACC Men's Under-19 Premier Cup. This tournament serves as a key qualifier for the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup. The format has fluctuated between 50-over and T20 matches in recent years. Nepal claimed the 50-over title in 2023, while the United Arab Emirates won the T20 edition in 2024. Historically, Nepal has been the most successful side in the ACC Under-19 Elite Cup era, having secured the trophy four times in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007.

The pathways to these national squads differ. Nepal relies on a provincial-based domestic system known as the Men's Under-19 National Cricket Tournament. This competition uses a 50-over format and features teams from the country’s seven provinces. Hong Kong utilises a club-based structure managed by Cricket Hong Kong. Their Under-19 league, introduced in 1998, operates in divisions based on strength without promotion or relegation. The two teams combine these domestic foundations to compete on the regional stage.
