About

The Men's Prime Minister Cup is the premier List A (one-day) domestic cricket tournament in Nepal, organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Founded in 2017, the tournament was initially organized by the National Sports Council (NSC) due to the suspension of CAN by the International Cricket Council (ICC); CAN resumed organization after its suspension was lifted. The competition sits at the top of Nepal's limited-overs pyramid, serving as the primary qualification pathway for the Jay Trophy, the country's premier multi-day (First Class) competition. The top four teams from the PM Cup qualify for the Jay Trophy (expanded to six teams from the 2026 edition).

The tournament features 10 teams: seven provincial teams (Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, Lumbini, Madhesh, Karnali, Sudurpashchim) and three departmental teams (Armed Police Force Club, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club). The format consists of a single round-robin league stage where each team plays every other team once, followed by a final between the top two teams. The tournament typically comprises 46 matches (45 league, 1 final). There is no formal promotion or relegation; the participant list is fixed based on provincial and departmental representation.

Nepal Police Club is the most successful team with four titles (shared in 2017, and won in 2019, 2024, 2025). Tribhuvan Army Club has three titles (shared in 2017, 2021, 2026), and Armed Police Force Club has two (2018, 2022). The 2026 edition saw Sudurpashchim Province reach the final for the first time. Notable reforms include the shift from development regions to federal provinces in 2018 and the format change in 2024 to a single round-robin group. The PM Cup is distinct from the Gautam Buddha T20 Cup, which is the domestic Twenty20 competition.
