About

The PM Cup Women's National Cricket Tournament stands as the premier domestic women's Twenty20 competition in Nepal. Organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), it operates at the top tier of the national structure, sitting above provincial selection contests without a formal second-tier league for women alongside it.

The event began in 2015, although some accounts suggest 2017 marked its formal establishment as a major annual fixture. It is contested in the Twenty20 format and follows a schedule that typically moves from a group stage through a Super Four mini-league to a final. Recent editions have seen teams split into two groups, with the leading two advancing to the knockout phase. There is no promotion or relegation; spots are secured via provincial selection processes and departmental appointments.

The field includes a blend of provincial and departmental sides. The current roster comprises seven provincial teams alongside departmental entries such as the Armed Police Force (APF) Women. The APF Club holds the record for success, claiming the title seven times. Their victories span from the early years through to the most recent 2024–25 edition, where they defeated Koshi Province by 11 runs in the deciding match. The tournament is named after the Prime Minister of Nepal and has occasionally featured commercial partners.

While the National T20 Championship focuses solely on provincial teams and the National League employs a first-class format, the PM Cup remains unique in its inclusion of departmental clubs. The competition was not staged in 2022, but has since resumed its annual cycle. Other winners include Region-VII, Koshi Province, and Sudurpashchim Province, highlighting the competitive depth across different regions.
