The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia B Qualifier operates as a sub-regional pathway for cricket nations in East and Southeast Asia. It functions as the initial stage of the qualification pyramid for the global tournament, sitting beneath the Asia–East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Regional Final. The competition distinguishes itself from the parallel Asia A Qualifier by its specific geographic mandate: while Asia A covers West and South Asian nations, Asia B manages the East and Southeast Asian bloc. Both qualifiers feed into the same combined Regional Final.
The current branding for the event was formally adopted in 2023, replacing previous iterations such as the 2018 ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier B. This edition, hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, brought together five teams: Bhutan, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. The format employed a single round-robin league structure. Malaysia secured the title by topping the table, earning a berth in the subsequent Asia Regional Final.
The scope expanded significantly for the 2024–25 cycle, which moved to Qatar and included seven participants: Bhutan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Thailand emerged victorious in this edition, completing a perfect record with five wins from five matches, finishing ahead of the UAE. The selection criteria remain consistent, with the top two teams from each sub-regional qualifier advancing to the next phase. For the 2026 World Cup cycle, the broader Asia–EAP Regional Final took place in 2025, integrating teams from Asia A, Asia B, and the EAP region to determine World Cup spots.
Memorable performances have defined the tournament's history. Malaysia recorded an 184-run victory over Myanmar in 2023, a margin recognized as one of the largest in T20I history. These results highlight the competitive variance within the sub-region, where emerging cricketing nations vie for limited international opportunities through this structured pathway.
