ICC Men's T20 World Cup Warm-up Matches 2024/25

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Warm-up Matches are practice fixtures held immediately prior to the main tournament. First introduced as a formal series in the 2021 edition, they provide a preparatory phase for teams without the pressure of official results. These matches do not carry official T20 International status, meaning results do not count towards team rankings or player statistics.

In the 2026 edition, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, sixteen matches took place between 2 and 6 February. The structure was not a round-robin but a series of specific pairings. Full-strength teams played one or two matches, while associate nations often played two to gain more practice. The International Cricket Council (ICC) also utilized 'A' teams, such as India A and Sri Lanka A, to provide additional match practice.

This lack of official status allows for greater flexibility in team selection. Teams can field all fifteen players from their registered squad, including fringe players. In some cases, non-playing staff have participated due to player shortages, a flexibility not typically afforded in official internationals. The primary purpose is to test combinations and assess player fitness while acclimatizing to local conditions. These matches are distinct from the main World Cup, which is a global championship first held in 2007.

For the current season, participating sides include Ireland, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Oman, India, and the United States of America. The warm-up period serves as a critical window for coaches to experiment with line-ups before the main event begins.
