Legends Cricket Trophy (India) 2022/23

Legends Cricket Trophy is a franchise-based exhibition tournament for retired international cricketers, organized by LCT T20 League Private Limited under the patronage of the Board for Veteran Cricketers in India (BVCI). The competition distinguishes itself from professional leagues like the IPL by featuring only retired players, operating without promotion or relegation, and focusing on entertainment and nostalgia rather than career progression.

The inaugural edition, known as the KhiladiX Legends Cricket Trophy, was held in March 2023 in Ghaziabad, India, and was won by the Indore Knights, who defeated the Guwahati Avengers in the final. The 2024 edition was held in Sri Lanka, featuring a 90-ball (15-over) format, and was won by the Rajasthan Kings, who beat the New York Superstar Strikers.

Key figures include BVCI acting president Praveen Tyagi and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, who participated in the inaugural event. The tournament has had various sponsors, including KhiladiX and MagicWin Sports. The official website for the tournament is cited as lct90.com, and the governing body's site is bvci.co.in. The competition currently features six teams: Indore Knights, Nagpur Ninjas, Patna Warriors, Vizag Titans, Chandigarh Champs, and Guwahati Avengers. Each team represents a different city in India, adding a regional dimension to the tournament. The focus on retired players allows for a unique blend of experience and entertainment, appealing to fans of the sport who remember the players' prime years. The tournament's structure emphasizes fun and camaraderie, with matches designed to showcase the skills of former stars in a relaxed setting. This approach sets it apart from more competitive formats, prioritizing enjoyment and nostalgia over strict competition. The involvement of notable figures like Sehwag adds credibility and draws attention to the event, highlighting its significance within the cricketing community in India. The tournament's growth suggests increasing interest in veteran cricket events, potentially paving the way for similar initiatives in the future.
