About

Pearl of Africa T20I Series is an international Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by the Uganda Cricket Association. Held primarily at the Entebbe Cricket Oval, the event serves as a regional invitational rather than a continental league. This format distinguishes it from competitions like the Africa T20 Cup by including non-African associate nations such as the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait alongside regional sides.

The competition was first held in 2021 under the name 2021–22 Uganda Tri-Nation Series. That inaugural edition featured Uganda, Kenya, and Nigeria, with Uganda winning the title. The tournament was revived in July 2025 for its second edition, expanding to five teams. The participating sides for the 2025 season included Uganda, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, Namibia A, and Kuwait. The format for that year consisted of a single round-robin group stage followed by playoffs.

Uganda retained the title in 2025, defeating the United Arab Emirates by eight runs in the final. The series is not part of a domestic league pyramid but operates as an invitational international tournament. Matches carry T20I status for most participants. The primary purpose of the event is national team preparation for ICC qualifiers. While the 2021 edition had a different structure, the current iteration emphasizes competitive exposure for associate members against higher-ranked opposition. The presence of teams like Namibia A provides a specific challenge level distinct from full international fixtures. The tournament continues to grow in stature within East African cricket.
