The Road Safety World Series is a T20 cricket exhibition tournament founded in 2019. It was established by Ravi Gaikwad, Chief of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Thane, Maharashtra, in association with the Road Safety Cell of the Government of Maharashtra. The tournament operates outside the official cricket pyramid and functions as a private, charity-driven initiative designed to raise awareness about road safety and noise pollution in India. A portion of profits supports the 'Shant Bharat Surakshit Bharat' charitable trust.
The event is organized by the Professional Management Group (PMG), a sports marketing agency co-founded by former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, who serves as Commissioner, while Sachin Tendulkar is the Brand Ambassador. The competition features retired international 'legends' representing nations such as India, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, Australia, and Pakistan. The format typically involves a round-robin league stage followed by semi-finals and a final, played in the T20 format.
India Legends is the most successful team, winning the first two completed editions (2020–21 and 2022). The 2020–21 final saw India Legends defeat Sri Lanka Legends by 14 runs. The 2022 edition was also won by India Legends. The 2023 edition, scheduled for England, was postponed and effectively cancelled without a winner being crowned. The 2024 and 2025 editions have not taken place, and the tournament is currently considered defunct or inactive. The RSWS is distinguished from other legends tournaments by its explicit government-backed social mission regarding road safety and its unique 'No Honking' initiatives.
