The Hundred Men's Competition is a professional franchise cricket league in England and Wales, founded by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It operates as a standalone tournament, distinct from the traditional English cricket pyramid, with no promotion or relegation. The league features eight city-based franchises that compete in a condensed season designed to fit within school summer holidays.
Each team faces exactly 100 balls per innings, with deliveries bowled in sets of five or ten. Matches last approximately two and a half hours, creating a fast-paced structure. The schedule includes a league stage where each of the eight teams plays eight matches, comprising four home and four away fixtures. This results in a total of 32 league matches before the knockout phase begins.
The competition concludes with a final series involving the top three teams. The highest-ranked side in the regular season advances directly to the championship final. The second and third-placed teams meet in an Eliminator, also known as a semi-final, with the victor progressing to the final. This format ensures every match carries significant weight towards the end of the campaign.
Manchester Super Giants, formerly known as Manchester Originals, are the current title holders following their victory in the 2026 season. The team underwent a significant rebranding after RPSG Group acquired a 70 per cent stake in the franchise. Similarly, Oval Invincibles became MI London after Reliance Industries purchased a 49 per cent share. These commercial changes reflect the evolving landscape of the league since its inception in 2021.
Other participating clubs include Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Welsh Fire, Trent Rockets, and Northern Superchargers. The competition often features double-headers alongside the women's tournament, promoting visibility for both men's and women's cricket simultaneously. This unique positioning helps sustain interest throughout the short season, drawing crowds eager for high-intensity cricket.
