The The Hundred Women's Competition is a standalone city-based franchise tournament, operated independently of the traditional county cricket pyramid. Founded in 2021 by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the competition operates parallel to the professional regional teams restructured under Project Darwin in 2025. It features eight teams: Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Super Giants, MI London, Southern Brave, Sunrisers Leeds, Trent Rockets, and Welsh Fire.
The format is distinct, with each team facing exactly 100 balls per innings. Bowls are delivered in sets of five or ten balls, creating a rapid pace. The season begins with a league stage where each team plays eight matches. The top two teams advance directly to the final, while the third and fourth-placed sides contest an Eliminator semi-final. The winners of that match face the league leaders in the final. There is no promotion or relegation within the structure.
Previous champions include London Spirit, who won in 2024, and Southern Brave, victorious in 2023. Northern Superchargers hold the most recent title, having defeated Southern Brave in 2025. Oval Invincibles also appeared as winners in the inaugural 2021 and 2022 seasons. The competition replaced the Women's Cricket Super League, differing by employing the 100-ball format rather than Twenty20 rules and expanding from six to eight participants. It is played as a double-header alongside the men’s version.
Squad regulations allow for 15 players, with a limit of four overseas players per side. The tournament uses the standard women's cricket ball, distinguishing it from some other limited-overs events. Notable performances include Tammy Beaumont’s highest individual score of 118 and Northern Superchargers’ team total of 214 for five wickets.
