Women's Big Bash League (Australia) 2025/26

The Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) is the premier Twenty20 franchise competition for women in Australia. Founded by Cricket Australia, it launched in 2015 and replaced the Australian Women's Twenty20 Cup. The league sits at the top of the domestic pyramid for women, operating in parallel with the 50-over state-based Women's National Cricket League (WNCL). It is distinct from that competition due to its franchise structure, international player recruitment, and entertainment-focused T20 format.

The competition consists of eight city-based franchises that are aligned with the men's Big Bash League (BBL). Adelaide Strikers Women, Brisbane Heat Women, Hobart Hurricanes Women, Melbourne Renegades Women, Melbourne Stars Women, Perth Scorchers Women, Sydney Sixers Women, and Sydney Thunder Women are all appointed by Cricket Australia. There is no promotion or relegation within the league. The season format involves a double round-robin group stage where each team plays every other team twice. This totals 14 matches per team and 40 regular-season matches. The top four teams advance to a three-match finals series consisting of a Knockout, a Challenger, and the Final.

The competition has seen four teams win the title twice each. Sydney Thunder won in 2015–16 and 2020–21, while Sydney Sixers claimed the title in 2016–17 and 2017–18. Brisbane Heat secured victories in 2018–19 and 2019–20, and Adelaide Strikers won in 2022–23 and 2023–24. The reigning champion is the Hobart Hurricanes, who won their first title in the 2024–25 season. The league was originally a curtain-raiser to the men's BBL but moved to a standalone schedule in 2019–20.
