About the player
Ángel Chávez came through Necaxa's youth ranks, moving up through the Sub-16, Sub-18, Sub-20 and Sub-23 sides as a central defender. First-team opportunities at Necaxa were limited, and the club sent him out on loan to Tepatitlán in the Liga de Expansión MX for the 2025–2026 season. He started for Tepatitlán in the Apertura 2025 against Morelia on 3 October, picking up a yellow card in the 57th minute.
Chávez's move to Guadalajara was confirmed for the Clausura 2026. The transfer was structured as a permanent deal in which Chivas acquired 50% of his economic rights while Necaxa kept the other half, part of a wider exchange that also sent Raúl Martínez to Necaxa. He is set to join Chivas' pre-season programme, where he will compete for a place in defence under coach Gabriel Milito.
At international level, Chávez has represented Mexico at Under-18 and Under-20 level, with nine caps to his name, and he was part of the Under-20 squad at the 2025 Maurice Revello Tournament.
