Fernando Augusto Pereira Bueno Júnior started out in the youth ranks of Inter de Santa Maria before joining Chapecoense's under-20 setup in 2018. Two loan spells followed, at São Luiz and then Marcílio Dias, giving him senior minutes before he made his own debut for Chapecoense in Série B in 2022.

In January 2023, Athletico Paranaense signed him for a fee of around €500,000. He wore the number 6 shirt and stayed with the club until early 2026, when he was transferred to Ceará SC for €238,000. He featured for Ceará in the Campeonato Cearense and in Série B during that season, but left by mutual consent in July 2026 and returned to Chapecoense, this time in the Brasileirão Série A.

Fernando is right-footed but has been deployed on the left side of defence throughout his career. He has not represented Brazil at senior or youth international level — reports linking a player of the same surname to the under-20 side and the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup refer to a different footballer, Léo Derik, who also played as a left-back at Athletico Paranaense.
