None of that rivalry, though, tells the story of the one campaign that mattered most.

The club traces back to 1968, when Máv Előre and VT Vasas merged in Székesfehérvár, and it has changed its name almost as often as its sponsors have changed since — Alcoa, Cerbona, Cornexi, Fehérép, RightPhone all had a spell on the shirt before Alba Fehérvár settled as the name in 2015. Under whichever badge, the identity held: white for Alba, paired with blue.

In 2004–05 that identity produced the club's one true peak. Alba won the Hungarian championship and, in the same season, beat Győri Audi ETO in the final to lift the EHF Cup. Tímea Sugár, Krisztina Csernus and Edina Őri were part of that squad; Krisztina Triscsuk, who played in that era too, later returned to the club as Sport Director. The following season brought a second-place league finish that closed out the good run without quite repeating it.
