Esztergomi Women

Its handball section is far younger: a women's team put together in 2015 that started out in the fourth division and gave little hint of where it would end up.

The turn came in 2023, when Gábor Elek left Ferencvárosi TC to take over as professional director and head coach in Esztergom, bringing his wife, national team player Zita Szucsánszki, in as a player and fitness coach. Promotion followed after a second-place finish in NB I/B, and in their first season in the top-flight NB I, in 2024/25, the team took bronze. By then the club had taken on the name MOL Esztergomi KC under a sponsorship deal, and several players followed Elek from Ferencváros — enough that games between the two now carry the sharpest edge in Hungarian women's handball, even without a name of their own for the fixture.

Europe arrived just as quickly. In the 2025/26 EHF European League, Esztergom reached the Final Four in Dijon, where they lost the semi-final to JDA Bourgogne Dijon HB and then the third-place match to Viborg HK. Szucsánszki's number, 87, was retired in 2026.

Home games are played at the Suzuki Aréna. For now it holds 500 spectators.
