Baekkelaget Women

Bækkelaget Håndball Elite carries the name of a club that once ran the table in Norwegian women's handball. The current setup traces back to 29 April 2013, when the entity was re-formed after the merger with Nordstrand Idrettsforening, BSK/NIF, came apart.

The parent club, Bækkelagets Sportsklub, was founded on 24 October 1909, but the handball side's real weight sits in the 1990s. Four league titles, two Norwegian Cups and back-to-back EHF Cup Winners' Cup wins in 1998 and 1999 came under Frode Kyvåg, with Anja Andersen among the players who carried that team through Europe. That run put BSK among the continent's leading sides for a stretch few Norwegian clubs have matched before or since.

The honours list stops at 2005, when the women's team won the second-tier title, and nothing since has come close to the 1990s peak. What is left is the shirt, the rivalry with Nordstrand, and Oppsal Arena, still the ground where BSK's crowd gathers in yellow and blue.
