Bjerringbro Women

Line Gyldenløve Kristensen led the scoring column in the 2023-24 season. Getting there has never been a given — the club itself only exists because two local outfits, Bjerringbro HK and Bjerringbro KFUM, merged on 1 April 1999, and when the men's side later folded into Silkeborg-Voel KFUM in 2005 to form Bjerringbro-Silkeborg Håndbold, the women stayed put under the old name and the old colours, blue and white, tied to the slogan "Blå i hjertet" — blue in the heart.

That independence has meant riding the lift between divisions rather than settling into one. The women won the 1. Division in its very first season, 1999-2000, earning promotion to the top flight, and needed until 2022-23 to do it again. Between goalkeepers Stine Broløs, capped for the Danish national team, and Clara Bak, the position has rarely been a weak point for a club this size.

Matches are played at the Bjerringbro Idræts- og Kulturcenter, a hall holding 1,200, hardly the biggest venue in Central Jutland but enough to make the short trips to Viborg HK and Silkeborg-Voel feel like proper regional business. There is no manufactured derby name attached to any of it, no rivalry the club has built a brand around — just the neighbours across Midtjylland showing up when it matters.

What the promotion of 2023 bought them ran out quickly: relegation followed after the 2025-26 season, and Bjerringbro FH's women find themselves back in the division they have already climbed out of twice, still waiting on a run in the top flight long enough to be called anything more than a visit.
