Bojnice

The club had been playing since 1959.

That breakthrough came in the 2023/24 Slovak Extraliga season, when HK Bojnice beat HK Košice 28:24 in a decisive fifth match to take bronze — the club's first medal in its history. A year later the team backed it up, edging Nové Zámky 28:27 to finish third again. By 2025/26 the run had gone further still: Bojnice reached the final itself, only to lose the series 3-1 to Tatran Prešov and settle for silver.

Tomáš Mažár's name runs through that rise. He played as a line player for the club before moving to the bench as head coach. Further back, Jozef Dobrotka and Jozef Škandík carried the Bojnice name to the Olympics in 1976 and 1988.

Games are played at Športová hala Prievidza, known locally as Športová hala Olympionikov, the club turning out in black and white. None of that atmosphere quite matches what happens when HK Agro Topoľčany comes to town.
